1885 Egypt, Al-Tawila Village - Faqous - Sharqia
A tranquil rural moment in Al-Tawila Village, Faqous, Sharqia Governorate, in 1885, where palm trees, dirt roads, and a simple life unfolded peacefully with time.
Al-Tawila Village is one of the villages belonging to the Faqous district in Sharqia Governorate, Egypt. It is an ancient village, mentioned as "Manzil Na'ma" in the Sharqia region among the villages of the Salahi survey compiled by Ibn Mamati in his book "Qawanin al-Dawawin" (Laws of the Offices). It is also mentioned as "Manzil Na'ma," also known as "Al-Tawila," in the Sharqia region among the villages of the Nasiri survey compiled by Ibn al-Ji'an in his book "Al-Tuhfa al-Saniyya bi Asma' al-Bilad al-Misriyya" (The Precious Gift of the Names of Egyptian Lands).
During the Ottoman era, the name "Al-Tawila" appeared in the Ottoman land survey conducted by the Ottoman governor Suleiman Pasha al-Khadim during the reign of Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent, within the villages of the Sharqia province. In 1228 AH/1813 CE, when Muhammad Ali Pasha surveyed the villages of Egypt, it was listed as "Al-Tawila" within the villages of the Sharqia Directorate.
