2009 The 5 Turkish Lira banknote

The 5 Turkish Lira banknote is part of the modern currency issued by the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey. It was first introduced in 2009 as part of the ninth emission series, featuring updated designs and advanced security features to prevent counterfeiting.

The front side of the banknote displays
Mustafa Kemal Atatürk,
the founder of modern Turkey and the country’s first president. He led the Turkish War of Independence and established the Republic of Turkey in 1923. His portrait appears on all modern Turkish banknotes in recognition of his important role in Turkish history.

The reverse side features
Aydın Sayılı,
a famous Turkish historian of science and the first person in the world to receive a PhD in the history of science. He was known for his studies about scientific achievements in Islamic civilization and the contributions of Muslim scientists to fields such as astronomy and medicine.

The banknote also contains scientific symbols including the atom, DNA structure, and the solar system, representing science and knowledge.

In addition, the note includes modern security elements such as a watermark, security thread, and embossed printing. The 5 Turkish Lira banknote is still widely used in Turkey today.
