The Great Sphinx

It is a colossal limestone statue depicting a mythical creature with the head of a human and the body of a lion in a reclining position. The statue faces directly from west to east and is located on a plateau on the west bank of the Nile River in Giza Governorate, Egypt. The features of the statue are believed to be those of the pharaoh Khafre.
